I needed to compare two sheets with vendor names. My challenge was that the format of the information was different in each tab and the names weren’t exactly the same. If there was a similar match, I could then bring over the financial information from one of the spreadsheets to make my comparison. There were over 100 names and while not the end of the world, I definitely had other more important things to spend my time. This is exactly what the hype of AI is all about!!
I used both copilot and ChatGPT. I’ve been preferring Copilot because that seems to be more accurate and intuitive (see my previous post about the Kentucky Derby)
The result is that it was able to make matches and help sort through the information. At least in part.
In order to rely on the data for my analysis and to see if this method can work in the future, I manually compared the two lists and found that it had accurately identified 31 of the 51 actual matches or 60.7%.
This was a good exercise and I think I could make it more accurate with a little more work on the prompts. Most importantly, I’m learning how to use these AI tools in my job
