I’ve heard some rumblings recently that investors are souring a little on AI stocks as companies are taking on too much debt trying to add capacity.
I think this is an interesting point because the enthusiasm is driving enormous amounts of spending buy these companies. Their enthusiasm in turn is driving up the stock price, which fuels this enthusiasm further.
Being a constant student of economics, I am aware that it’s likely that the market is overvalued in so stocks and will, eventually correct itself. I think we may have reached a point where investors are saying, hey let’s take a minute and catch our breath and see what AI can do.
But I’m not writing this blog to give investment advice, I am NOT qualified. Why I AM writing is to say don’t get lazy about understanding AI and its impact on the workplace, in particular our field of accounting and finance. The free market will level out and the benefits of using AI are real. It is a technology that will change how we work, just like spreadsheets (I remember using Lotus 123 as an upgrade from lines accounting paper) and the PC and other automation.
We need to stay in front of this technology and continue to learn and incorporate it into our workplace. WE need to champion it and lead our organization to whatever capacity it needs. If we are the experts, we will be the key employee that ushers it in.
Embrace the knowledge and stay on top of it, even if the bubble bursts, there’s something in this technology that has value.
