I asked Claude to prepare a presentation to my supervisor about what the best solution is to replace a current software application. I referenced a cost analysis file that I prepared in Box and a PDF from an email in Outlook that I referenced by sender name only. After I received the output, I further prompted Claude to prepare a 3 page PowerPoint, with one of the pages being a title page.
The output was a Word document and a 3 page PowerPoint. It was an impressive 3 page Word document that laid out a sensible argument for a particular vendor (my top choice admittedly). It included an Executive Summary, the options evaluated, a cost comparison from my cost analysis file. Additionally, the recommendation, an implementation overview (from the Outlook email reference) with a note that the overview was from the vendors perspective. The commercial terms, also from the vendor PDF, key considerations and suggested next steps.
I was impressed by the sensible presentation. The headers were all professionally prepared as well as a logical suggestion and the case for choosing the vendor that it did. I did NOT ask it to prepare for my preferred proposal, it was done on its own. It also had the proper headings, my title, and the organizations name, all of which was ready to present. As I always’ say, it MUST be reviewed and edited for errors and I found a few. However, I estimated I saved at least 1 hour of effort in preparing these documents.
While this is not exactly a full agent activity, it was more than a prompting model. Let me remind you that an agent is semi-autonomous program which should create an output with pre-programmed instructions as well as strict parameters. It should, however always’ have human intervention or an opportunity to have it.
In the case of my example, it produced an output from my prompt however I, I did not instruct the layout, the headers, the tables, or the recommendations. Not from my simple request.
The reason I used Claude is because it is set up to integrate with some other applications we are currently using. Those applications in this case are Box for file storage, Outlook, as well as a few others that weren’t specific to this exercise. The prompt was a simple instruction referencing each of these other data resources and Claude was able to put together these two documents to help me present the case to my boss.
